It’s a question we’ve heard more times than we can count at WOW Bakery. Our original Red Bean Bun — soft, lightly sweet, and filled with smooth red bean paste — was a quiet favourite for many in Calgary. So when it disappeared from the menu, people noticed right away.

The truth is, it didn’t go away. We just weren’t ready to bring it back — yet.

Red bean buns may seem simple, but getting them just right takes balance. The texture of the bread, the sweetness of the filling, and the overall finish all need to come together in a way that feels effortless. Instead of reintroducing the same product, we wanted to elevate it — to create something more refined, while still keeping what people loved.
